Ooty promises to be more spectacular as 66 new varieties of flower seedlings including special species like Acroclinum, Angelonia and Browalia have been introduced. The 117th flower show had commenced on May 17th,2013. The Ooty flower show 2013 was in place from 17, 18 and 19 th May 2013.

Sand sculpting as an art form has become very popular in recent years. Sand art is the practice of modelling sand into an artistic form, such as a sand brushing, sand sculpture, sand painting, or sand bottles. Sand art attracts the peoples by and large. Sand art can be made an instrument to make the public aware of global warming and environmental degradation.

Sand sculpture on environmental protection offers a better way to create environmental awareness to the visiting public.
Mr. Sudharshan Pattnaik is an inventor of sand art in India. He has designed hundreds of sand sculpture.He has won many national and international awards for his creative designs. Pattnaik's sand design on the potential Global warming won the People Choice prize at the 1st Moscow international sand sculpture championship held in Russia. This was to educate the people through his art about the effects of Global warming.

During the flower show 2012, a sand sculpture on environmental protection with a theme on "Flowers Bloom, Earth Smiles" attracted many tourists and created awareness about global warming.
